March 2008: The Project Managers of SOGREAH MAGELIS, involved in Offshore projects, followed the Helicopter Under water Escape Training at the Fire and Survival Training Center (CETIS), in Marseille. The Helicopter Under water Escape Training is conceived to prepare the staff for an over water emergency at the time of a crash landing of helicopter (for example while travelling towards an oil platform). Emphasis is placed on practical techniques to leave a submerged airframes. HUET training in controlling the instructions and emergency procedures in the helicopter, use of onboard safety and other emergency equipments, preparation for water impact, and proper egress procedures in reduced visibility conditions. Hands-on training was conducted in a pool using a simulator that
represents a multiple passenger helicopter. Under the monitoring of
plungers, trainees were placed in the simulator which was then immersed
in water after release of the doors and port-holes each one could then
leave the simulator, and make their way up to the surface.
After this intense training under 11 degree water, the SOGREAH Magelis Staff got there certificate of training course. |
