  • BLOCK 3, ANGOLA - Development Of Offshore Oil Field
    Environmental and Social Impact Assessment

    CONTEXT OF THE PROJECT

The Block 3 is located offshore Angola in a water depth between 40 and 100 m, 40 km away from the coast.

The oil production facilities comprise 169 wells, a network of 19 platforms interlinked by sea-lines, a Floating Storage and Offloading facility (FSO) and an accommodation barge.

    SOGREAH MAGELIS’ SERVICES

Sogreah Magelis performed the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) in accordance with Angolan environmental legislation and Total corporate standards, the purpose being to establish a supporting document for the hand over process of the Block to SONANGOL (the Angolan National Oil Company) at the end of the Production Sharing Agreement (PSA).

The ESIA presents the facilities and the control and mitigation measures to avoid, reduce or compensate the environmental impacts associated with the continued development of the Block, which comprises the continued production without additional drilling.

The ESIA provides a framework for the different components of the Environmental Management System; the socio-economic aspects of the project are addressed through the assessment of direct employment and employment through provision of services by Angolan companies.
