Select a geographic area and/or select a theme Environmental Impact Assessment CONTEXT OF THE PROJECT
The Ningbo Water Supply Company (NWSC) and the Cixi Municipal Sewage Company (CMSC) have launched an ambitious project which requires a 324 million dollars investment (partly financed with a loan from the World Bank). The aim of this project is to improve the water supply system of Ningbo city (2,500,000 inhabitants) and the treatment of wastewaters in Cixi region (economic area belonging to Zejiang province located in Yangtsé River Delta, 1,214,000 inhabitants). This program includes a new raw water intake, transmission tunnels and water treatment works in Moajaiping (500,000 m3 per day). It comprises also trunk mains aiming to join the new 40 km urban water ring main encircling Ningbo city. Two wastewater treatment plants will be built in Cixi city as well as a sewage collection network.
SOGREAH MAGELIS’ SERVICES Sogreah provided the technical assistance (design review and advisory services) for Ningbo Municipal Government. Sogreah Magelis performed Environmental Impact Assessments (which were carried out in collaboration with Chinese consultants) and the publication of Environmental Management Plan: practical guideline of the mitigation measures. The studies have been approved by the World Bank. |
