Select a geographic area and/or select a theme Oil production facilities - Touat, Adrar, Algeria SOGREAH MAGELIS’SERVICES In the context of the oilfields development in the Touat permit area located in the Adrar region of the Sahara desert in Algeria, Sogreah Magelis performed an environmental study on behalf of Sonatrach and China National Petroleum Company. The study comprised an Environmental Baseline Survey, an Environmental Impact Assessment and an Environmental Management Plan. The project’s potential impacts were identified through a technical approach and an environmental survey of the area. Impacts were evaluated for water supply, wastewater discharges, atmospheric emissions, solid waste, noise, protection of the flora and fauna, and the socio-economic environment. Impacts were evaluated for the drilling, the construction, the operation and the re-instatement phases. Environmental Impact Assessment is in compliance with the Algerian legislation and international standards. Environment protection measures were defined in collaboration with the client in order to adopt the most suitable mitigations. An Environmental Management Plan was prepared in order to give practical guidelines on mitigations and protection measures.
