Select a geographic area and/or select a theme Oil exploration well - Rhourde Es Sid, Algeria SOGREAH MAGELIS’ SERVICES In the context of drilling exploration wells in the Rhourde Es Sid permit area located in the Sahara desert in Algeria, Sogreah Magelis performed an Environmental Impact Assessment on behalf of Total E&P Algeria and in compliance with Algerian legislation for the protection of the environment and in accordance with international standards. The project’s potential impacts were identified through a technical approach and an environmental survey of the area. Impacts were evaluated for water supply, wastewater discharges, atmospheric emissions, solid waste, noise, protection of the flora and fauna, and the socio-economic environment. Environment protection measures were defined in collaboration with the client in order to adopt the most suitable mitigations. An Environmental Management Plan was proposed. A field inspection during the drilling phase of the project was carried out a couple of months after the study was terminated. This confirmed the right application of the study’s recommendations and their suitability.  |
